Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an effective, scientifically-validated approach using the principles of human behavior to teach functional skills and improve behavior challenges. ABA is the only therapy noted by the Surgeon General to benefit individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (Office of the Surgeon General, 1999).
At Empowered Family, I work with the individual and the family to create an appropriate plan to increase development skills. Through therapy sessions, the individual is taught behavioral, social, and functional-living skills to be used in the natural environment.
As the individual progresses, family members are brought into the therapy sessions to learn interventions to carry over into the home and natural environment.
